The Integrated Community Drum Circle is a place where people of all abilities, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and beyond come together to share the power of community. This breakout group, led by mental health visionary & rhythm enthusiast, Julien Lepage, will engage its participants in an experiential session using drums & percussion from all over the world. This program will discuss how building a meaningful community can directly impact one’s overall health and wellness – whether in the workplace or at home. The facilitator will lead the group in Joyful, Mindful, and Playful rhythm making sessions: promoting a deepened sense of awareness of self and others. Touching on various ‘Case Studies’ where the Integrated Community Drum Circle has directly impacted individuals lives by offering a place where they belong, one will understand why drumming is such a powerful tool for community, health, and wellness. Julien is a Certified Integrated Drum Circle Facilitator & Trainer, Registered Social Worker, the Owner of Circles of Rhythm, and an inspirational speaker with a passion for building community & innovation through collaboration. Julien Lepage, Certified Integrated Community Drum Circle (ICDC) Facilitator & Trainer, Registered Social Worker, Owner of Circles of Rhythm, and an inspirational speaker describes his passion as ‘being of service’ and ‘seeing people thrive not just survive’. With over 10 years supporting adults who experience life with a chronic and persistent mental illness or addiction, Julien has found a way to combine his passion as a professional musician and social worker within the health care system & private corporate world. Lepage continues to be the mobilizing force behind training & mentoring capable ICDC Facilitators across North America. At its foundation, Julien offers a weekly ICDC in Calgary, AB where over 120 participants gather each week to drum in community. Julien uses the ICDC to ignite the spirit of its participants, building an inclusive community no matter your level of ability, cultural background, sexual orientation, spiritual beliefs, and walk of life! Nominated for CTV’s Inspiring Albertans, Julien authentically leads others with passion for building meaningful communities across Western Canada via Circles of Rhythm through the ICDC.
